    Hiking

The listed observation tower in the violin wood was built by Duke Alexander von Württemberg on the occasion of the peace with France in 1870-71, with a line of sight to Fantaisie Castle. There is an inscription on the tower: "In memory of the glorious peace after the victorious battles of the German army in the memorable years 1870/1871". (Regarding the victory against France in 1870/1871).
Unfortunately the tower is not (anymore) open, as Susanne says. (Status: 03/2020)

In the middle of the forest you come across the listed tower made of sandstone blocks with a crenellated crown and corner turrets. The Victory Tower was built by Duke Alexander of Württemberg. There is an inscription on the tower: "In memory of the glorious peace after the victorious battles of the German army in the memorable years 1870/1871". This refers to the victory against France in 1870/1871. The tower was built with a view of Fantaisie Castle. Unfortunately, it is no longer accessible; a padlock hangs on the door.

Beautiful listed observation tower. Was built by Duke Alexander von Württemberg on the occasion of the peace with France in 1870-71, unfortunately closed today.

Filthy freaks let off steam at the tower and left useless graffiti.
