From the previous building of today's church, only the late Gothic altar of Mary has been preserved.

In 1848 the church had to be closed due to the danger of collapsing and was replaced by a new building. The neo-Gothic hall with the west tower was built entirely of brick over a fieldstone base.

In 1874 the west tower had to be demolished after a fire. Since then there has been a free-standing belfry for originally two bells (0.94 m and 0.77 m in diameter), of which only one bell is currently hanging. According to the inscription, the bells were made from metal from conquered French cannons, donated by the patron saint of the church, Grand Duke Friedrich Franz II been.

The interior has a wooden ceiling construction. In the choir apse is a modern limestone altar. The small medieval winged altar was attached to the east wall behind the altar.

The church is surrounded by a cemetery. A war memorial for the fallen of the First World War is not far from the church.

Today's Plate Church was built in 1848 according to plans by the Schwerin architect Theodor Krüger. Other neo-Gothic buildings such as the Paulskirche in Schwerin and the village church in Banzkow also came from his pen. From the previous building of the Plater church, which had been closed due to the danger of collapse, only the late Gothic altar of Mary, erected around 1500, remains. This carved altar is characterized by the special arrangement of its ten figures. After a fire in 1874, the west tower of the church was replaced by a free-standing belfry. The organ of the church was made by the Schwerin court organ builder Friedrich Friese in 1873. Through his work, the Friese organ building workshop developed into the most important in Mecklenburg in the second half of the 19th century. The adjoining parish barn is a popular meeting place and venue.

Beautiful village church with a separate wooden bell tower separated from the church.
