The dammed lake is located southwest of Lake Schwerin in the LSG "Schweriner Seenlandschaft". It is approx. 50 h in size and max. 11.5 m deep. Dragon boat races take place on it every year. The water of the Faulen See drives the water wheel, which is still used today as a technical Grinding mill in Schwerin, preserved as a monument.
