Plesse Grill and Picnic Area

As a starting and ending point of the tour highly recommended, as there is also a Wassertretstelle, which ensures wonderful cooling for the feet after the hike.

Here at the hiking car park and barbecue area there once stood a farmstead, the Plessehaus. The settlement was first mentioned in 1736, when the pharmacist Friedrich Sander illegally wanted to build a house on the foundations of an old building. The shell of the building was destroyed on the orders of the town guard. In 1800 Sebastian Kremmer bought the property and built a farm, which became the outbuilding of the Kalkhof estate from 1887 onwards. The buildings were later leased and the tenants set up a restaurant, as the Plesse rock became a popular tourist destination at the beginning of the 20th century. The Plessehaus burned down on February 1, 1975 and was demolished.

Both summer and winter, the course, which like the rest of nature is treated with respect, offers a great view of the Werra Meißner valley around Wanfried.
