"The memorial for those who died in Diersfordt in World War I consists of a stepped base with a top and a modeled Ionic column rising from it.

The following inscription is embedded in the attachment on the front side above plastically emphasized oak leaves and a helmet on a lying sword: To the fallen sons of glory Diersfordt 1914 -1918.

On the back, the names of those who died are listed next to the following saying: "Here everyone is silent about their suffering and even the greatest need. / Aren't we all ready for sacrifice and death. / One thing stands tall in the sky / Everything is allowed Germany, our children's and fatherland, will perish / Germany must exist." The memorial was dedicated on September 30, 1928."

A memorial beautifully integrated into the forest. Like the adjoining military cemetery, food for thought...

Like almost every other town, Diersfordt mourned its fallen and missing in the two World Wars that shook the first half of the 20th century. This memorial is dedicated to them all. In earlier times – usually under the name "war memorial" – the heroic commemoration of the brave heroes was the primary focus. Today, these monuments – found in almost every town and village across the country – are important memorials. They stand in villages and towns as vital testimonies to a past that will hopefully never be repeated, carrying with it an enduring message of understanding between nations. Their significance is once again highly relevant today, serving to remind us of the often horrific suffering caused by war and tyranny, and to urge each new generation to preserve peace.
