In 1753, the Sulzbacher Princess Elisabeth Auguste, the first wife of the later Bavarian Elector Karl Theodor, had a Loreto chapel built on the Annaberg. Symbolized by the small church, the parental home of Mary, which was transposed according to legend by Probst Teramus of Loreto in 1291 from Nazareth to Loreto in Italy.
