The Nordstrander Damm - the Pohnshalligkoogstraße - connects Nordstrand with the mainland. Here you can cycle along relaxed and enjoy the view.In the years 1906 to 1934 was built in several stages of the 2.5 km long Nordstrander dam, which connects the island since then with the mainland. Since the completion of the Beltringharder Koog in 1987 Nordstrand has a much larger mainland connection and is thus a peninsula, which is surrounded on three sides by the sea.nordstrand.de/insel/nordstrand-hat-was.html

In 1906/07, Nordstrand was connected to the mainland for the first time by a low dam around 2.6 kilometers long. This dam served exclusively for coastal protection and was not passable. However, pedestrians could cross it at low tide. The flood-free expansion of the Nordstrander Dam took place in 1933/35: Since then, a 4.3 km long road (including the access ramps) has connected Nordstrand with the mainland.
