Hämelschenburg is definitely worth a detour. The pond, the park, the horse paddocks, castle tours, drinking coffee and is a good starting point (large car park) for hikes.

Hämelschenburg Castle is a gem of North German architecture and has been completely preserved with the church, farm buildings, park and inventory. Guided tours are available to visit. In them, the unique building and art history is explained and the checkered history of a Lower Saxon noble family is presented authentically. The manor belonging to the castle has been owned by the von Klencke family since 1437 and is managed according to the principle of sustainability. The church in Hämelschenburg is the first free-standing Protestant church building.

Regular guided tours
The guided tours to visit the castle take place from April to October on Tuesdays to Sundays, on public holidays and on Monday 2 October 2017 at the following times.
April and October 11 a.m., 12 p.m., 2 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4 p.m
May to September 10am, 11am, 12pm, 2pm, 3pm, 4pm and 5pm
In the approx. 50-minute guided tour, you will discover one of the most important and beautiful Renaissance complexes in Germany and meet the personalities who have shaped Hämelschenburg for over 550 years.
