Ventas Rumba Waterfall

This is a beautiful wide waterfall that is not very high but incredibly wide. It is great to see the kids playing in it in the summer.

A number of legends and historical events are associated with the widest natural waterfall in Europe (249 m). Due to the fish-catching devices invented by Duke Jacob and placed on the hub, in ancient times Kuldīga was called a city where salmon are caught in the air. The fish still fly here in spring and autumn. The width of the hub is influenced by the amount of water, on average it is from 200 to 250 meters wide, but during floods it reaches up to 270 meters! The height of the waterfall is from 1.6 to 2.2 meters. The overflow consists of a rather interesting zigzag line. Venta Rumba is a natural monument and belongs to the Venta Valley Nature Reserve.

Swimming in the waterfall is possible, but there are no marked or supervised beaches. Fishing is not permitted in the immediate vicinity of Ventas Rumba in order not to disturb the migration of fish, mainly vendace and also salmon.
