The prince-bishop Hofburg garden looks back on a long and rich history: first documented in the middle of the 13th century, it is not only one of the few preserved orchards, but is probably also the oldest historically documented tree garden on the continent. With its vine-covered pergolas, enclosed moats, simple garden pavilion, and two Far Eastern-inspired corner pavilions, the Hofburg Garden in Brixen, surrounded by high, ancient walls, seems to have fallen out of time.
