The bronze figure of the Michaelsbrunnen on the White Tower represents the patron of the Brixen parish church, St. Michael as a dragon slayer. On the occasion of the 1050th anniversary of the city of Brixen in autumn 1951, the Albuingasse was redesigned and a new fountain was built on the White Tower, which was inaugurated on October 28, 1951.

In the municipality of Brixen, the fountains are marked with a plaque that clearly states whether it is drinking water or not. Drinking water flows from around thirty fountains in the city area. The water from the wells is excellent, like the water at home. Citizens of Brixen, city visitors and holidaymakers can refresh themselves at the fountains free of charge.
