At Breugelweg 196 in Pelt (Overpelt) you will find the parking and entrance of the Heesakkerpark. This is also where most hiking trails depart and where you will find both the mill museum and the Sevens mill. Only a few Heesakkerheide walks can also be started at the Wedelse mill.

At the entrance of Heesakkerpark, which is located here, you will find a series of information boards. The Heesakkerpark is the municipal walking park of Overpelt. Coniferous and deciduous trees alternate in the 20-hectare domain. There is also a beautiful pond where the artwork "Back to the roots" by the Lommen willow artist Will Beckers can be found.

Most of the park was created between 1969 and 1971 on former heathland. You will find a remnant of this around the ponds.

The Heesakkerheide Walking Park was constructed from 1969-1971. In 1961, the municipality also wanted to build an arboretum here, but this was only partially realized. The park is located on the west flank of the Dommel valley and consists of a variety of deciduous and coniferous forests. The birch-oak forest is the most common. A rare plant species found here is the lingonberry.
