The Taube Elbe, a silted-up oxbow lake, was created by the constant changes in the course of the river. A hike along the Tauben Elbe, which divides the Rothehorn Park, is like entering another world: lots of peace and quiet.

In connection with the Adolf-Mittag-See, the pigeon Elbe represents an oxbow lake of the Elbe. The water is surrounded by sparse reed beds.
The flood ditch between the Adolf-Mittag-See and the customs port widens to the north and south of the railway bridge to form a shallow still water. The waters have a strongly fluctuating water level and a high degree of eutrophication.
When the Elbe's water level is high, the area is directly connected to the customs port as well as the Adolf-Mittag-See and the Tauben Elbe Rotehorn.
The woods are concentrated in the embankment area. The hollows are amphibian spawning waters. The valley-like, wooded location creates a retreat and relaxation area for the fauna of the adjacent Rotehorn Park.
