The Kothener Forest (also called Kothener Busch) has been a forest area in the Unterbarmen district that has been used as a recreation area since the 19th century. The Kothener Busch is designated as a 58.6 hectare landscape conservation area. A former quarry in the form of a gorge, designated as a natural monument, forms an interesting geological structure in the forest area.
