Bike Touring Highlight (Segment)
This wonderfully quiet bike path leads from Gevelsberg Silschede to Haßlinghausen via an old railway line, where you have access to the Wuppertal Nordbahntrasse and the coal railway to Hattingen. In Silschede, the connection to the Elbschebahntrasse is planned in the medium term, but at the moment you still have to drive a small connection over country roads.
The track is not paved but thanks to "water-bound ceiling", so compacted gravel, easy to drive - at least in the summer. ;) The path is maintained regularly. At Haßlinghausen, there is even something to eat on the edge of the road and a few beautiful to look at relics of mining.

Between Gevelsberg-Silschede and Sprockhövel-Schee runs this quiet, just under 9 kilometers long Bahntrassenradweg. Here you cycle wonderfully isolated almost through the hinterland of the small towns that you would otherwise connect by highway. Except for a short distance before Schee the path runs almost without gradients over a water-bound path.
The route starts well: If you start from Silschede, you will pass the "Café Kännchen", a small, super cozy café that has settled here. Although this is only open on weekends and in good weather, then it is definitely a tip. At Hasslinghausen you pass another restaurant, otherwise the route is really quiet. At the Sprockhöveler endpoint, it flows into the coal railway, which comes from Hattingen, and has direct connection to the Wuppertal Nordbahntrasse.

The branch Alte Kohlenbahn is a very nice cycling and hiking trail to Haßlinghausen, Hiddinghausen and Silschede over. With some beautiful views of nature. Ends at Café Kännchen, a quaint, lovingly furnished café.

Great café at the end of the coal route. Great homemade cakes and drinks. Great, no super great garden.

Great route from snow towards Witten.
It's really nice through the green.
Unfortunately, this route ends without a connection to another route.

Great distance for cycling away from motorways on a disused railway in nature. Highlight: you even drive through a long tunnel ... do not forget to turn on the light

Wonderful to driving old coal track. Not paved, still very good to drive. Connection to the Wuppertal Nordbahntrasse at the Schee Tunnel and at the branch Schee also the possibility to Sprockhövel or to Hattingen to arrive.
