A church dedicated to John the Baptist in the old village of Wettbergen was first mentioned in 1477. However, it burned down in 1580 and was apparently rebuilt only at the end of the 17th century. Two crest stones dated 1697 and 1702 "above the west door" probably indicate the time of rebuilding. The chapel is located a bit off the historic center on a narrow side path.
