The lake is located in the western part of the Egsdorf district. To the south is the nature reserve Kleine and Mittelleber. This is where the Gallun Canal is also the inflow that drains into the lake from the south.
There are no designated swimming areas. A hiking trail leads past the lake on the eastern bank.
