Largest existing square in the middle of the historical city center of Rethymnon. Nice, if a bit sparse. One side of the square has been made freely available to local graffiti artists. Beautiful works of art have been created there and can be admired. The Archaeological Museum and a small mosque can also be found directly on the square.

On this impressive memorial, which stands on the edge of the square of the Great Mosque, one reads the places from which the Greeks were expelled: Smyrna,....
Most were resettled in 1922 in the so-called "Asia Minor Catastrophe" (and vice versa the Turks from Greek territory).
