Lenhausen was first mentioned in 1285 as the seat of a noble family and has been the headquarters of the von Plettenberg-Lenhausen family since 1457. The history of the building is largely unexplained, the medieval core building was expanded and expanded in the second half of the 17th century.
The three-storey, three-story quarry stone construction with a bailey surrounded by a peninsula stands on an irregular floor plan. On crest stones and wall anchors is the name 1664. In the years 1672-1673 and 1874 extensive renovation work was carried out after a long vacancy. The staircase wing was added in 1927. From 1974 to 1981, a basic renovation was made. The two-wing farm building on the outer bailey is designated 1677 and 1880. The rentei with loopholes and renewed tufts made of bricks, is covered with a crippled hipped roof. The building probably dates back to the 17th or 18th century. Noteworthy is the 1678 designated altar with carved scroll in the castle chapel.
