The Wuppertal dam offers a variety of recreational opportunities

    History and usage
The Wupper Dam is a water reservoir and located in the city triangle Remscheid, Radevormwald and Hückeswagen. It serves the flood protection and the low water increase of the Wupper. In the winter months, part of the storage volume - the so-called flood protection room - is kept free in order to be able to absorb the frequently occurring precipitation. The flood protection area of the Wupper dam is 9.9 million m³. A total of 9.5 million m³ of flood protection space is provided by the Bever, Lingese and Brucher dams.
It was opened in 1987 and construction began in 1982.

There are a total of five Vorsperren the Wupper Dam:
        Wupper-blocking system
        Wiebach-blocking system
        Dörpe-blocking system
        Feldbach-blocking system
        Lenneper Bach Vorsperre

    leisure
The Wupper Dam, with its recreational opportunities, is a magnet for visitors from across the region. Numerous hiking trails, rest areas, cottage settlements and a boat harbor for sailing and rowing boats allow recreation, sports and games for the whole family.

CURRENTLY you can see and experience the CLIMATE CRISIS here - a dramatic low in the water level - where on earth will the new filling come from?
        UPDATE 04/2024:

Obviously my prayer was successful ( ;-) ): the rain in winter and spring 2023/2024 was enough to refill the reservoir. The current status can be viewed using graphics and figures at any time (LINK):
