Greifenberg Castle in the district of Landsberg am Lech has been inhabited by the Barons of Perfall since 1478 and is not open to the public. The former Greifenberg Fortress is said to have belonged to the Count of Andechs in the 10th century. After the death of the last count in 1248, the castle came into the possession of a ministerial family whose members bore the name Greif. In 1507, the Hofmark Greifenburg was finally sold to Hofmeister Erhard von Perfall, whereby the family took over the estate.

Greifenberg Castle above Lake Ammersee dates back to a medieval castle complex from the 13th century and was later redesigned into a representative castle. The complex remains in private ownership to this day and can therefore only be viewed from the outside.
