In more than a hundred years since it was founded, St. Ottilien has developed into today's extensive monastery complex. The focal point for the monks' fulfilling exchange with God is the monastery church, which is dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The neo-Gothic building with its imposing crossing tower was built according to the plans of the Munich architect Hans Schurr. The simple architecture and the subtle coloring of the interior immerse the church in a quiet and sublime solemnity.
