The former Count of Schönborn Gaibach Castle is still an impressive facility, which dates back to a manor of 1299 originally. In the aftermath of the castle was rebuilt as a castle, then in the years 1590-1608 for the first time in the style of the Renaissance as a castle and 1693-1710 it was rebuilt in the meantime in the possession of the Counts of Schönborn, this time in Baroque style. Today, the old walls house the Franken Landschulheim, which is a municipal boarding school with high school, junior high school and day care center and thus a special feature in the Bavarian school system.

Gaibach Castle was the ancestral castle of Lothar Franz von Schönborn (1655-1729), one of the most important rulers of the German-speaking area at the turn of the 18th century. Lothar Franz, who was at the same time Prince-Bishop of Bamberg, Archbishop of Mainz and Elector of the Holy Roman Empire, was characterized by a lively construction activity. Around 1700 he had the old Gaibach moated castle converted into a baroque pleasure palace and at the same time endeavored to create a dignified garden.

Today only a few relics are reminiscent of the Gaibach baroque garden. The main features of the planned layout of the landscape park have been preserved, but also because of the huge dimensions of the park it is only visible to the trained eye. An almost circular, agriculturally used area takes up the slope of the "sun hill" and is framed by a strip of wood. Aisles always reveal the view, across vineyards, valleys and the church of Gaibach built by Balthasar Neumann to the heights of the Steigerwald. The constitutional column crowns the park unchanged, the hunting snips run through the forest in the former pheasant garden, even if nature has overgrown and dissolved the clear edges.

The castle was formerly the residence of the Counts of Schönborn and is now used as a boarding school for the Franconian country school at Schloss Gaibach.

Beautiful old castle, but you can't visit it because it is a school and boarding school.

The Franken-Landschulheim Schloss Gaibach combines tradition with modernity and brings together different school paths under one roof. Made for young people who want to find their own answers to life's questions.

It houses a boarding school, high school, secondary school and a day care center

Beautiful castle. In summer the wine festival is celebrated in the courtyard.

Directly opposite the parish church of Gaibach is the former moated castle of the Counts of Schönborn. It now houses a boarding school.
