The church in Bjurholm is the third on this site. The first was built in 1809, then replaced by a larger church in 1875. When this one burned down in 1932, the current church was built in 1935. The wooden church, with its rectangular floor plan, round-arched windows, and a tower with a lantern on the west side, was designed by Kjell Wretling, the city architect of Umeå, who also designed numerous churches, schools, and public buildings in Västerbotten.
