Norråker may lie at the end of the Bävervägen, the Beaver Trail, which runs from Hoting along the eastern shore of Lake Tåsjön, and it's the starting and finishing point of the traditional Beaver Trap Trail sled dog race, but the town has chosen the brown bear as its animal emblem, not the beaver. This is because here, in the far north of Jämtland, is home to the densest brown bear population in the world, and Norråker is an ideal base for bear watching during the warmer months.
