Tips

  • ROBERT, mit dem Rad & Hund durchs Land.

The Sandfort Castle, often called Sandfort House, is a moated castle in Olfen (Bauerschaft Vinnum) in Münsterland.
The castle was probably built around 1450. From this time come the two round towers of the building. The upper castle was changed several times and dates from the end of the 16th and the beginning of the 17th century. The mighty tower was renovated, its helmet dates from the Baroque period.
The two farm buildings left and right of the gate entrance were built in 1851 and 1857 in the classicist style.

At the moment the moated castle on the outer facade is being renovated. Nevertheless it is worth a detour.
