The Golden Gate Overlook was rebuilt in 2015 on the highest point of the Godfrey Battery in the Presidio, in the exact axis of the Golden Gate Bridge, so that the second tower is precisely framed by the first tower, and offering perfect views across the water and to the Marin Headlands. Information panels explain the massive coastal military fortifications dating from the turn of the century.

The circular viewing terrace on two levels at the highest point of the cliffs above the Civil and World War batteries provides a straight linear view along the axis of the Golden Gate bridge, exactly aligning the two bridge towers.
