Of particular importance was the Magdeburg airport pilot school, which was located on the Cracauer Anger until 1926. In the mid-twenties, the scheduled air traffic experienced a brief appearance as a waterway. Along the Elbe, the Dresden-Magdeburg-Hamburg route was put into operation. As an aerodrome - and thus the 3rd airfield area of the city of Magdeburg was built - served the Red Horn peak, in which the Old and Stromelbe separate.
