The German Historical Museum is probably one of the most beautiful buildings in the city. It is the most important and best preserved baroque building in Berlin. In 1699 construction began. Under the four architects Johann Arnold Nering, Martin Grünberg, Andreas Schlüter and Jean de Bodt was worked until 1706 at the arsenal. In the origin, the building served as a weapons arsenal and later as a Hall of Fame and Military Museum. Today you get an impressive insight into the history of Germany. Here you can immerse yourself in German history from the Middle Ages to the fall of the Berlin Wall. I can only recommend a visit.

In no case should you forget to visit the exhibition hall behind the arsenal. Leoh Ming Pei, one of the greatest contemporary architects and student of Bauhaus founder Walter Gropius, designed this impressive structure. Here you will also find exciting special exhibitions of the German Historical Museum.

    Opening hours:
    Daily from 10 to 18 o'clock

More information about the permanent exhibition and the changing exhibitions can be found here:

The German Historical Museum shows its exhibitions in two breathtaking buildings: in the unique baroque armory Unter den Linden and in the adjacent modern exhibition hall of the Chinese-American architect I.M. Pei, the corresponding website about this impressive structure (dhm.de/ueber-uns/die-gebaeude.html).
