You can easily estimate the age of the original windmills from its appearance : if it is entirely made of wood and the whole housing rotates to catch the wind, it is from the 16th-17th century ; if it is made of bricks and only the top with the sails rotate it is from the 18th century and later.
I meant original windmills because often, specially the wooden ones, are often reconstructions or restaurations.
This is the case of this one. It was reconstructed from scratch at the end of the 20th century

This windmill is a reconstruction of an ancient windmill.

The first mill on this site dates back to 1619. The mill now here, built in 1987, is a replica of a pile mill by Jan Jansenzoon, which was rebuilt on the old bastion, as was the replica of the Rembrand Bridge.
