The monastery church was the church of the Franciscan monastery. Its main altar was dedicated to the apostles Peter and Paul in 1293. The main nave of the church dates from 1480 and was built in the late Gothic style. In the years 1696, 1731 and 1748, the extensions on the south side, so-called prayer rooms or lodges for wealthy Zittau residents, were built.
