The bridge is part of the recreational cycling and walking path along the southern dike of the Bovenvliet Schelle and through the woods near the Kerkeneinde neighborhood in Hemiksem. The cycling route runs through a green environment, and attention has been paid to its design. The path between the railway bridge and Zinkvallaan is semi-paved.
The Capucienenbrug, located in a green corridor, provides an ideal connection for recreational users and also offers a safe alternative for cycling to school or work between Schelle, Hemiksem, and Aartselaar.
