Broek De Naeyer nature reserve has an entrance here with bicycle shed.
Broek De Naeyer is a surprising natural gem with an industrial past.
The nature reserve consists of 66 hectares of forest, reed fields and open water. The first shallow ponds were created in the 18th century by peat extraction. In the 19th and 20th centuries, the De Naeyer paper factory constructed settling basins and discharged waste water into the Rupel via the factory course. In 2004, the factory closed its doors permanently and nature recovered at enormous speed. Now you can enjoy a rich flora and fauna.

A very peaceful nature reserve where beavers have their dens. If you want to go exploring, don't forget your insect repellent. The moist soil also makes it a habitat for many mosquitoes.
