In this house lived the grandmother of Andersen and 1805, when the later poet was born, lived the aunt of Andersen there. She was the only relative of Andersen's parents who lived in the area. Andersen certainly did not live long in the house. He spent his childhood in a house in Munke Møllestræde.

Hans Christian Andersen, who was born in Odense in 1805 and spent his childhood, is omnipresent in his native city. Denmark's best-known poet and writer, who became world-famous for his numerous fairy tales, we meet e.g. as a memorial, as a sculpture, on city tours, in public performances and with fairy tale sculptures.

The H.C. Andersen Hus in Odense is a fascinating museum dedicated to the life and work of the famous Danish fairytale writer Hans Christian Andersen.
The museum offers a unique journey into Andersen's creative world and his world-famous fairytales. The exhibition uses sound, light, space and scenography to transport visitors into Andersen's fairytale world.
The museum also offers access to other historical sites in Odense that are connected to the poet. It is a place where one can experience the beauty and imagination of Andersen's stories first hand.
