The two-part castle complex is one of the numerous castles in the Wasgau region. It is located above the Langental valley at an elevation of approximately 340 meters on the western slope of the so-called Schlossberg, a western spur of the Maimont. The German-French border is only 350 meters away as the crow flies.

The castle is worth seeing and, together with the Petit Arnsbourg, Blumenstein and the Rocher des Tziganes, a great castle tour. The upper castle can be reached via a steep staircase, the steps of which are quite worn.

A fascinating rock castle, in which the rock was artfully integrated into the castle structures. If you look around carefully, you will always discover stairs that must have made sense at some point. It's fun to let your imagination run wild as to which room may have served which purpose. There is so much to discover here that you should definitely plan enough time to explore the numerous stairs, rooms and viewing platforms. Of course, I particularly liked the countless stairs, some of which are so steep and consist of such high steps that you have to use the railing to pull yourself up
