    It starts in Linz!
The location of this highlight is on the Danube cycle path at the Urfahrmarkt site on the north side of the Danube, i.e. in Urfahr. The actual old town of Linz with the large main square is on the south side of the Danube.

Currently (2019) there are only two bridges, the Nibelungen Bridge and the Autobahn Bridge, over which you can drive from Urfahr (north side) to Linz.
The castle, the Mariendom (with a memorial column for Blessed Franz Jägerstätter, a religiously motivated conscientious objector who was murdered by the Nazis), the small old town, the synagogue on Bethlehemstrasse (with frescoes from around 1970 showing the 12 tribes of Israel) and much more! If you want to stay overnight here, you can find a few hosts on warmshowers.org.

The Urfahranermarkt, or Urfahr-Markt or Urfix for short, is a twice-yearly fair in the Urfahr district, on the fairgrounds named after the market (Urfahrmarktgelände). The previous visitor record is a total of 680,000 visitors at the spring market in 2012.

The spring and autumn market have existed since 1817, when Emperor Franz I approved the holding of two markets per year. This makes it the oldest fair in Austria. According to the Linz market regulations, the Urfahranermarkt usually takes place for nine days in spring from the last Saturday in April and in autumn from the last Saturday in September.
