The Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary was built in 1610-1619 in the late Renaissance style by the Dominicans who came to Sejny from Vilnius in 1602. The founder of the monastery in Sejny was Jerzy Grodziński.

The church was consecrated in 1632 by Bishop Jerzy Tyszkiewicz invoking the Blessed Virgin Mary, St. George and the Blessed Boy. The church was later expanded to include a complex of monastery buildings, which was completed in 1706. In 1760-1779 the church was rebuilt in the Vilna Baroque style. The founder of this project was Róża z Platerów Strutyńska.

During the renovation, the orientation of the church was changed. A monumental two-towered façade was built on the site of the former presbytery, and two bays were added to the interior. Parish of St. Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary

The parish was established in 1744 by Bishop Benedykt Wojno. Brick church in the years 1610-1619. Built in the baroque style. Consecrated in 1630. Extended in 1760. In the years 1918-1925 it was the cathedral of the Sejny diocese. From 1921 to this day it has been a collegiate church. In 1973, the collegiate church received the title of Minor Basilica. In the Basilica there is a chapel with a statue of Our Lady of Sejny, famous for its graces. The statue was crowned on September 7, 1975. In 2002, on June 1, the parish solemnly celebrated the 400th anniversary of the presence of the statue of Our Lady in Sejny. The coronation was performed by the Servant of God Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński - Primate of Poland and the Servant of God Cardinal Karol Wojtyła of Krakow - later Holy Father John Paul II. The Sejny Basilica is a famous Sanctuary of Our Lady. Next to the Basilica there is a post-Dominican monastery complex from the 17th century. The Dominicans carried out pastoral work in Sejny from 1602 to 1804. Since 1995, renovation works have been carried out at the Basilica, both inside and outside the building, and in 2006, renovation of the Monastery began.

Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Sunday after May 31), Our Lady of the Rosary (Sunday after October 7), anniversary of the coronation of the statue of Our Lady of Sejny (1st Sunday of September).

13:00 (in Lithuanian), 17:30

On weekdays: 6:30, 8:00, 17:30.
