The trail follows the former irrigation ditch, which made it possible for Baldenhofer for the first time in the early 17th century to harvest hay twice a year on today's Stokinger ski slope.

The route over the Baldenhofer Wässerungsgraben leads through the middle of the forest, usually rather a trail through roots. The Baldenhofergraben was created around 400 years ago by Konrad Baldenhofer. At that time, the water was brought from the Lauter source to the Stokinger. Nowadays, the Baldenhofer-Graben is an idyllic, natural footpath that leads about 3 km over springy forest floor through the quiet forest idyll.
