During their spa stay in 1700, Count von Sternberg and his wife had this originally baroque chapel built on the slope behind the former Sachsensaal (now the Grand Hotel Pupp). It quickly attracted great interest from spa guests. Johann Wolfgang von Goethe even captured it in a drawing in 1808. From 1885 to 1886, the chapel was completely rebuilt in the pseudo-Gothic style. After the Second World War, the chapel fell into oblivion and fell into disrepair. It was not extensively reconstructed until 1991.
