The Holy Trinity Column (also called the Marian Column, sometimes the Plague Column) stands on the market square in the historic centre of the town. The high Baroque column with three statues of saints was erected in 1716 at the expense of Countess Vrtbová. The central motif is the coronation of the Virgin Mary of the Immaculate Conception by the Holy Trinity. It was designed by the sculptor Oswald Josef Wenda, and the stonework was done by Andreas Anton Ingrisch. The central theme of the depiction, namely the coronation of the Virgin Mary by the Holy Trinity, is an exception for Baroque columns of this type. Nowhere else in Bohemia is there a Baroque column depicting the coronation of the Virgin Mary. Through the choice of iconography, the sculptor managed to combine two important themes of the Catholic faith: the Virgin Mary as the recognised intercessor of God and the Holy Trinity, whose cult was also promoted at that time.

The high Baroque column with the group of statues of the Most Holy Trinity was erected in the years 1715–1716 by the Luditz sculptor Oswald Josef Wenda at the Old Town Hall on the Market (Tržiště) in the historic city center of Karlovy Vary. The people of Carlsbad built it out of gratitude that the spa town was spared from the raging plague epidemic in 1713. The ceremonial consecration of the column was carried out in 1716 by the then pastor Franz Böhm.

The central motif of the sandstone column is the coronation of the Virgin Mary of the Immaculate Conception by the Blessed Trinity. The group of statues stands on the globe entwined by the serpent of original sin. The base of the object is a three-sided base on which the bishop statues of St. Adelbert and St. Augustine and the statue of St. Florian, the patron of firefighters. The total height of the object is 9 meters.

Due to the construction of the hot spring colonnade and other redesigns in the area, the original dominance of the column over the St. Mary's Magdalene Church was somewhat attenuated. To this day, the Carlsbad Plague Column remains a magnificent example of High Baroque architecture.
