Schöneck Castle

Around the year 1200 the Reichsministeriale Konrad von Boppard built the castle "Sconecke" on behalf of the German king to protect the fiscal district of Boppard. As a result of the Eltz feud, Schöneck Castle became dependent on the Electorate of Trier. While it was part of the French Republic, Schöneck Castle, as it has been known since the 17th century, was confiscated from the diocese's property and auctioned off. In 1910 the painter Wilhelm Steinhausen acquired Schöneck Castle, which has been owned by the Steinhausen Foundation since 1922.

Great vantage point, which can be reached after about 200 meters from the Ehrbachklamm - and where a bench and a table invite you directly to (breather) break, including the view of Schloss Schöneck, which can be seen in about 1800m distance.

Violent climb for which one is directly rewarded with this view. As so often on the tour is also a nice rest stop here.
