The charming Altstadt-Sankt Sebald area is home to the annual Nuremberg Christmas market, as well as the 11th century Imperial Castle. Many city travelers are interested in the romantic part of Nuremberg. At the foot of the mighty castle, the historic houses of Nuremberg's old town are lined up. It stretches from the Imperial Castle Nuremberg southwards to the opera house and the train station. The former fortifications run around Nuremberg's old town. It is a mighty city wall with many towers and gates. The cityscape is characterized by the historic houses from the Middle Ages.
