Based on the Emscherland 2020 Integrated Action Plan, the Ruhr Regional Association (RVR) developed the AktivLinearPark together with the cities of Herten and Recklinghausen projects for the Hoheward Landscape Park.
The AktivLinearPark was officially opened on October 30, 2022.
