The St. Jakobus Chapel is located directly on stage 2b of the Way of St. James, which runs from the monastery Bernried to the monastery Polling. On the former Prälatenweg it goes directly from Weilheim to Polling. Hikers can make a detour to the corridor chapel in honor of James and to the spot where the first monastery in Polling stood.

This chapel was built in 1997 to commemorate the successful completion of a land consolidation and village renewal project that lasted from 1972 to 1997 to improve the economic and ecological situation in Polling.

The chapel is dedicated to Saint James the Elder in memory of a church that stood nearby until 1805.

The planning and construction was the responsibility of Nikolaus Morgenroth, the interior painting and the exterior painting were designed by Jürgen Schütt.
