The Gamensee (or Großer Gamensee) is located at Tiefensee in the glacial groove of the Gamengrund, which cuts through the Barnim plateau as a geotope, and at the same time in the large contiguous forest area north of Strausberg near Berlin, which extends from Hirschfelde in the southwest to Sternebeck in the northeast . The west bank of the lake, like Tiefensee, has belonged to the town of Werneuchen since 2003, the east bank is shared by the municipalities of Höhenland in the north and Prötzel in the south.
The water level is 76 m above sea level. NHN. The lake belongs to a superficial run-off area, but feeds together with the two northern neighboring lakes, Mittelsee and (southern) Langer See, through underground natural drains, the Fredersdorfer Mühlenfließ, which originates in the southernmost part of the Gamengrund. The approximately two-kilometer-long Gamensee is the largest and deepest channel lake on the Gamengrund. It can be used both as a swimming lake and as fishing waters.

The Gamensee is really a beautiful lake. in a beautiful lake with a very nice hiking trail. In summer you always walk under trees. There are small spots from which you can get into the water and there is a public (paid) swimming area (€ 3 adults and children € 1.50) with a small playground at the campsite.
Winter is also very nice, you have to be good on foot, as the trail is often icy. Still really great! And if you have the right weather conditions, you can hear the lake "singing". It must be frozen over well and the sun must slowly warm up the ice. Creepy beautiful!
There is a parking lot opposite the entrance to the campsite, even with a mobile home parking space.
