On the south side of the Saale, on the edge of the old town, there is the Heinrich Heine Park in Rudolstadt. Immediately on the Saale invites a beautiful trees for strolling and lingering. The Thuringian farmhouses in the park give a view of the life of Altforderen. If you cross the Saale over a second pedestrian bridge again, it is only a few minutes walk to the historic center. And over the whole is Schloss Heidecksburg.

Hiking

The memorial for those killed in the First World War in the city park of Rudolstadt was erected according to plans by the Dresden architect Max Herfurt and inaugurated on Pentecost Sunday 1927. It consists of a sixteen meter diameter stone circle in the style of a druid temple with sixteen roughly hewn steles. Inside there was a bronze plaque with the dedication of the RSC (Rudolstädter Senioren-Convent), on the side facing the Saale there was a stone larger than life-size Roland figure by the sculptor Hermann Fritz.
