About the Croatia bench: The "tie straps" are made from Douglas fir trunks with a length of approx. 150-180 cm and a diameter of 20-30 cm. The tie motif was carved out of the trunks in relief using various woodworking tools and under the guidance of the wood artist Andreas Drost. The multiple colors of the Douglas fir between the bark and the wood's own color offer an additional design element inside and out.

The term "tie" can be traced back to the Croatian people. In the 17th century, King Louis XIV, the Sun King (1643-1715) hired mercenaries from Croatia. The military costume of Croatian soldiers also included a piece of fabric that was attached to the shirt collar in the form of a rosette, and the ends of which hung over the chest. The fashion-conscious French liked this clothing so much that they quickly spread this new fashion.
