At the end of the 16th century, Bogislaw XIII (1544–1606), Duke of Pomerania, led the town of Barth into a "Golden Age." Among other things, he replanned the town, opened it up to its neighbors, and emphasized trade and, above all, education. The printing press of choice at the time.
