From the free parking Walberhof can be reached via a very beautiful hiking trail in just 1.7 km the deserted Wollseifen. Be sure to visit the church of St. Rochus. In good weather, the descent to the Urft dam is recommended.

The Wollseifen deserted village is a forced-to-clear village that had to give way to a military training area after World War II.
Located very close to the former NS-Ordensburg Vogelsang, it is a good memorial against militarism and the war.

Due to its proximity to the Nazi Kaderschmiede Vogelsang in Nazism Wollseifen was once to be developed into an "Aryan" model village. Fortunately, these plans were not realized. After the war, the inhabitants had to vacate the place within a few days. More than 500 inhabitants suddenly lost their homes. Wollseifen became part of the Belgian military training area and completely destroyed during maneuvers and exercises except for the church and another building. Information boards explain the history of the place.

The small village of Wollseifen was forcibly cleared by British forces after World War II and turned into a military training area. Only three buildings of the original village are still preserved. The former schoolhouse now has a small worthwhile exhibition on the history of the village.

Every day I write here to the empty village near the castle Vogelsang. If you are in the vicinity, then definitely worth a visit here.

After the war, the inhabitants of this settlement were expelled and the area became a military training area. In the area there is still a lot of ammunition in the forest. Therefore always stay on the way.
