From 1889 to 1893/94 Schloss Friedrichshof was prepared as a widow's residence in Kronberg im Taunus for the former German Empress Victoria. At the same time, a system of paths from Friedrichshof Palace to Oberstedten was created to create a connection to Bad Homburg Palace. The Kaiserin-Friedrich-Brücke was built in 1891 as part of the Kaiserin-Friedrich-Weg as a crossing over the Urselbach.
